Nanoarthroscopy: A Revolutionary Method in Orthopedic Surgery

Nanoarthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique that revolutionizes orthopedic surgery, allowing for the immediate diagnosis and rapid treatment of joint diseases. This technique, which is clearly more advanced and accurate than traditional arthroscopy, offers unique advantages in terms of rehabilitation, reduction of the risk of complications and recovery time.

What is Nanoarthroscopy?

Nanoarthroscopy is an advanced diagnostic and therapeutic method performed through a very small incision (the size of a needle) in the joint. In this process, the nano-arthroscope is used, an extremely small tool combined with a high-resolution (HD) camera. This camera provides the surgeon with sharp images of the joint, allowing for accurate diagnosis and immediate treatment of lesions.

The nano-tools used in arthroscopy are much smaller and more flexible than traditional ones, offering a greater range of motion and operation diameter. This ensures that the procedure is performed with high precision and less injury to the surrounding tissues.

Advantages of Nanoarthroscopy

  1. Minimal Invasiveness and Minimal Trauma:Nanoarthroscopy is performed through an incision smaller than that of conventional arthroscopy. Due to the small size of the incision, trauma to the surrounding tissues is minimal, reducing pain and the need for rehabilitation.
  2. Bloodless Intervention and Rapid Rehabilitation:The procedure is bloodless, without the need for general or dorsal anesthesia, and is performed under local anesthesia. Healing is immediate and the restoration of joint functionality occurs faster compared to traditional open procedures.
  3. Powerful Diagnostic Tool:Nanoarthroscopy is an extremely powerful diagnostic tool, ideal for patients who cannot undergo MRI *patients who have had surgery for a pacemaker etc. The surgeon has the ability to examine the joint with great precision, even areas that were previously anatomically inaccessible, offering an immediate and detailed diagnosis.
  4. Smaller and Difficult Joints:Nanoarthroscopy can be used to treat and diagnose problems in large joints, such as the knee (meniscus), but also in smaller joints, such as the ankle, elbow, forearm, and small joints of the hand and foot. Conventional arthroscopy is often unable to intervene in these areas, unlike nanoarthroscopy which can offer solutions.
  5. Safe and Complications-Free:it is extremely safe and has been recorded as a method without notable postoperative complications in the global literature. The operation has excellent results in terms of rapid rehabilitation and mobilization of the joint.

The Process of Nanoarthroscopy

The operation is performed by administering local anesthesia to the joint area. The surgeon creates a small incision, through which the nanoarthroscope, a tool with a diameter of just 1.9 millimeters, is inserted. The high-resolution (HD) camera combined with the nanoarthroscope provides an extremely sharp and wide field of view (120°), allowing the surgeon to examine the joint with high precision and proceed immediately to repair the damage.

Recovery and Rehabilitation

Nanoarthroscopy has changed the course of recovery by almost eliminating the immobilization that accompanies open surgeries due to injury to the soft tissues around the target pathology. This technique focuses recovery on the primary injury and allows the patient to be mobilized immediately. Recovery is therefore much faster compared to other surgical methods, as the procedure is bloodless and minimally invasive. In addition, the patient does not need to undergo a long period of inpatient hospitalization.

The difference is evident, in terms of factors such as mobilization and pain. As confirmed by many studies in patients undergoing nanoarthroscopy, this approach has been linked to excellent results reported by the patients themselves and high rates of return to work and sports.

Nanoarthroscopy is therefore an advanced, minimally invasive technique that offers excellent results in the diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases. By applying it to large and small joints, it reduces the risk of complications and offers faster recovery with minimal pain. It effectively treats joint injuries that were difficult to approach with traditional methods, offering a safe and effective solution for patients. If you’re having problems with your joints, nanoarthroscopy can be the ideal solution to get back to your daily activities quickly and painlessly.
