Ilias P. Kanellopoulos
Ilias P. Kanellopoulos was born in Athens and studied at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens after being admitted through Panhellenic examinations.
He completed his military obligations in 2002, serving in the Health Corps of the Cyprus National Guard as a Soldier Doctor and then fulfilled his rural service in 2004 at the Cardiology Clinic of the General Prefectural Hospital of Pyrgos, Prefecture of Ilia.
He specialized in the Second University Clinic of Anesthesiology, at the University General Hospital “Attikon”.
In September 2011 he was awarded the “Doctor of Medicine” title from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a grade of “Excellent” and on the subject of his doctoral dissertation “Postoperative analgesia in total hip arthroplasty surgeries: a comparative study between epidural analgesia, periarticular infiltration and parenteral administration of opioids”
He was a Senior Post CCT Clinical Fellow from 2011 to 2013 in the field of Obstetrics, Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, UK.
Since 2013 he has been participating in the educational and scientific program of the Second University Clinic of Anesthesiology, P.G.N. “Attikon” as a Scientific Associate, while in the academic year 2014-2015 he was also a University Scholar of the Clinic, following an election process by the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He was a member of the Writing Team of the Questionnaire for the Specialization in Anesthesiology (2017) and participated in the preparation of guidelines for Obstetric Anesthesia (2018) and in the drafting of an algorithm for the treatment of Major Obstetric Hemorrhage (2013), under the auspices of the Hellenic Society of Anesthesiology.
Since 2011 he has been working as a specialist anesthesiologist.
