
Vassilios I. Sakellariou
Orthopedist – Surgeon, MD, MSc, PhD
Vassilios I. Sakellariou is the head of the Department of Reconstructive and Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee Surgery at the Orthopedic Clinic “OSTEON” and a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Athens, while at the same time he is the Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at the Athens Medical Center (Maroussi), with a special focus on Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Oncology.
He specializes in the most modern and Innovative methods of arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the large hip and knee joints, utilizing the latest developments in medical technology, at the level of both surgical techniques and implants.
He serves his field of knowledge with dedication, having been trained in recognized centers in Greece and abroad, after specializing in Orthopedic Surgery & Traumatology at the First Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Athens.
In particular, he has served as a fellow in the Department of Orthopedics of the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester (Minnesota), USA, while he has worked as a paid clinical fellow in the field of Adult Reconstructive Surgery – Surgery of the Large Hip and Knee Joints, at the Hospital For Special Surgery, New York. At the same time, he has served as a Clinical Scholar of the First Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Athens.
In 2011 he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Athens (PhD degree) with a grade of “Excellent”, while in the same year he received the Master of Science (MSc) on the subject of “Metabolic Bone Diseases”, after two years of attendance and presentation of a thesis with a grade of “Excellent”.
From September 2013-2015, following an election process by the Medical School of Athens, he was a University Scholar with Specialization in Hip and Knee Surgery at the First Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Athens, General Hospital ATTIKON.
He worked for over 4 years as the Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at Mediterraneo Hospital with a special focus on Adult Reconstructive Surgery & Large Joint Surgery.
He then served as Director of Orthopedics at the Euroclinic Group with a special focus on Adult Reconstructive Surgery and Large Joint Surgery.
Since January of this year, he is the Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at the Athens Medical Center with a special focus on Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Oncology.
