Ilias Kanellopoulos

Ilias P. Kanellopoulos was born in Athens and studied at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens being admitted after his success in the state Panhellenic Examinations.
 
He completed his military service in 2002, serving in the Medical Corps of the National Guard of Cyprus as a Hoplite Doctor and then completed his rural service in 2004 at the Cardiology Department of the General Prefectural Hospital of Pyrgos, Ilia Prefecture.
 
He specialized at the 2nd Clinic of Anesthesiology at University General hospital Attikon.
 
In September 2011 he was awarded  the title of Ph.D. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a grade of “Excellent” on the subject of his doctoral dissertation “Postoperative analgesia in total hip arthroplasty: comparative study between epidural analgesia, periarticular infiltration and parenteral opioid administration”.
 
He served as a Senior Post CCT Clinical Fellow from 2011 to 2013 in the field of Obstetrics, Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, UK.
 
Since 2013 he participates in the educational and scientific program of the 2nd Clinic of Anesthesiology at University General hospital Attikon, PGN, as a Scientific Associate, while in the academic year 2014-2015 he was a University Scholar of the Clinic, through a selection process by the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
 
He was a member of the Editorial Team of the Question Tank for the specialization in Anesthesiology (2017) and he also participated in the process for the preparation of guidelines for Obstetric Anesthesia (2018) and in the development of an algorithm for the treatment of Major Obstetric Bleeding (2013) under the auspices of the Hellenic Society of Anesthesiology.
 
Since 2011 he has been working as an anesthesiologist.
